Weekly Habbits...

Good ole print media ... remember that shit? Yeah, stuff made for dinosaurs and what not! Funnily enough, whilst growing up I managed to be in the middle of the whole transition of communication media, which went from print to digital formats.

Well today I decided to grab myself a Trading Post to relive the old tradition my mates and I used to go through at school. Religiously every Thursday, we'd pick up a copy of the Trading Post to browse through and look at cars for sale. We'd laugh at exorbiant prices or silly cars, we'd drool over dream cars, but pay attention to those we could afford (Cars for sale under $1000 hahaha!).

Not having picked one up and browsed through it in quite some time, I realised that I missed this whole process ... not just the great past time enjoyed with mates, but managing to pick out crazy deals, see awesome rare cars for sale and what not ... these things are easily missed when using the specific search function on the corresponding website.

Not to mention all the other cool, non car related gear that people are willing to offload for the cheap! Here's to putting myself into debt again! hehehe

Love The Beast...

So courtesy of a competition on Circuit Club I've won two free tickets to see Love The Beast. (Winning car movie tickets = win ... winning anything is definitely FTW!!!!!!!11!1!1!!1)

I'm actually quite excited to watch this as:

a) I'm a rev head and
b) this'll be the first movie i've seen since the last batman film (really...)

I'll be heading down to Greater Union Cinemas on George Street (Sydney) on Wednesday to watch it. If you're in the area and want to watch, drop me a line and come past!

Thanks again to Circuit Club for the hook up! Be sure to check out their site for the Events as they throw up a monthly track day which is great if you want to race your car in safe environment where you might learn a thing or too!

Keepin it short and sweet for tonight...got work uni in the morrow (and i'm here updating my blog! haha). Review to come!

Fresh Threads...

So I cleared myself of debt the other day (yay me!) ... so what's the best thing to do? Go shopping! hahaha

Over the last week I had accquired the following items (oh dear lord help me hahaha) ...

New Era Filo Flag Cap - From a friend who brought it back from the Philippines I imagine ...

A-Life T-shirt: Please Try To Keep up - Footage on Oxford Street

Bear Bond T-shirt - From Robby Ingam Store (OxfordStreet as well)

The Hundreds T-Shirt: Emblem - From Nitrogen on George Street (word up to JimBoi for the hookup!)

I was looking for fresh and colourful as I usually get clothes consisting of flat colours. The bear bond t-shirt was an instant WIN for me cos it's hella fresh (and giving you the finger! lol).

Anywhoo...thought I should post that before it go too long away. Gotta get back to studying!

Cover videos on YouTube

This is just an announcement to any of my buddies that do covers n such on youtube ... I'll let David Choi explain...

So just a brief overview ... warner brothers (WB) haven't struck a deal with youtube (YT) in regards to posting videos of covers on YT as WB want to get paid (rightfully so, they have the rights)for any covers posted as YT make money off them (with the ads). As YT don't want to get in trouble for this, they're going about removing videos with WB content the best way they can (suspending accounts). To avoid your account being suspended, hide or delete your vids with WB content on them.

This has been a nutHour public service announcement. Regular programming will resume shortly..

LOL in a can!

So much awesome in this can I just had to buy it! LOL

Haven't tried it yet but i'll let you know how it tastes! LOL

Laters! LOL

Added 18/03/2009

Ok so I tried it today, albeit a little warm and it's not too bad! Doesn't have that sharp taste most energy drinks posses, but in this instance a prominent mango flavour. Very reminiscent of those poppa/tetra packs of juice you used to drink back in the 90's ('Just Juice' anyone?).

Would I drink again? Not sure because when it comes to energy drinks, I must admit I'm a brand whore and would choose Red Bull over anything else on the market (will drink Rockstar on occassion too).

I do love the can design though ... so i'll be keeping it on display till I tire of it :P

Can't remember the price but if I recall correctly it would only be in the $3 range (I purchased it from 7-11 in the city so prices are mad jacked anyway) but I imagine it'd be in the same price range as all energy drinks available.

The n[2]s crew

So ... first port of call.

Anyone thats been around myself for the last 5 months or so would know that a few friends of mine have started off an all night jam session called n[2]s. Basically, it stands for night to sunrise and it basically comprises of us dancing from around 9pm Satuday night till 5am Sunday morning. We have been running these jam sessions since October 25 2008 and have plenty more in store!!!

The core crew that comprises of myself with friends, Chris, Ralph, and Jimboi have, with our mutual love for hip hop dance, brought together a jam session with a difference. Basically the time frame puts a barrier up straight away for those not fully into it. You have to want to be there to want to dance from night to sunrise, with no alcohol or pingers. Just straight up passion and love for dance driving you through the wee hours of the morning. We also all specialise in various styles, from hip hop, pop, lock, break and krump, and even though we train in all styles, we ensure to focus on foundation work.

Our aim is to encourage and nurture good talent and good people into progressing/leveling up in the scene. Understanding there is more to dance than the money and the fame (although they're good too), but that and understanding and respecting your chosen craft is in quite important.

So yeah, that's a little insight into one aspect that's been taking up my time (the most of time anyway!). We have a few interesting things coming up with n[2]s so stay tuned. Can't drop any details as yet...but we're all pretty excited over here! hehehe

In the mean time, feel free to check out our n[2]s blog in the left pane or visit n2sjams.wordpress.com, which just outlines how the jam session went, when the next one is coming along and any other related news. If you want to subscribe to our mailing list, email us at n2s.crew@gmail.com and we'll gladly add you where you'll get updates on the next session or event we'll be attending.

Keep on jamming people!

-Peace

Update thats so late (my rhymes are so ill, they kill at will lol)...

How is everyone doing?

Yeah yeah, I know. It's been a while since i've done anything. It's not out of pure lazyness ... not entirely anyway. I did think however, that I should drop a new post to tell you what i've been up to and what the near future holds for Nut Industries ... January and February have been quite hectik in that i've been continuly writing new skits for a mates channel (plus an advertisement for a competition ... stay tuned for our submission), as well as numerous dance workshops and jam sessions.

I'll be putting up more posts over the next week to cover in detail all the different aspects that have been taking up time in the Nut Hour camp, but thats not to say that NH is dead ... far from it. I'm hoping to make a video soon and use this blog to cover the daily goings downs.

Anyhoo ... lemme get to it and i'll catch you guys shortly!

- Peace

My new headphones...

So my Sennheiser in ear headphones decided to die (well, the right headphone died, leaving an unbalanced sound in my ears) the other day which is annoying as hell. Not only is it my third set of Senn's in two years (seriously...either their quality has gone down hill or i've been mistreating them...most likely the later), but I hate being without music.

So after work that day, I decided to head down to JB Hi-Fi to check out what was available for the picking. That it was nigh on two weeks till pay day, my budget was quite low (I needed headphones quickly and didn't want to spend more than $50), so I had no delusions that I was going to be getting headphones with the best sound quality.

After a quick browse, I settled on some TDK EB-300WH (rrp $14.95). They had the in-ear sleeves that aids the noise cancelling feature (I'm so used to this from my Senn's), an apparent non-tangling cord and 1m extension cord (which confused me at first but would find out that it was quite necessary).

TDK Headphones TDK Headphones 2

So after acquiring the headphones, I left to try em out. After spending 10 minutes looking for the small ear sleeves after they had fallen from the packet (I don't know why, I can't use em anyway) I plugged them in and gave them a shake down run.

For headphones, they don't look too bad. They're weigh very little and sit in the ear quite well. The splitter is dead even, which is cool so I can feed it through my shirt or leave it in my bag when I go for runs.

After pressing play on my iPod, and cycling few a different genre's of music, it was apparent that these headphones focused too much on bass production, and when my volume was pumped up, they were on the verge of distorting. So I cycled through the different EQ settings on my iPod and found that the best setting to use for these headphones was the Bass Reducer. The reproduction of the bass line is still very apparent, but it's livable with.

The next issue: putting them into my pocket. As the cord is so short, putting the iPod into my pocket promptly removes the headphones from my ears. It's not that it was significantly short, it's about 5 inches too short (ha, that's what she said!). What were TDK thinking? Then to provide a 1m long extension cord? What the? I added the extension and placed the iPod in my pocket, along with the rest of the cord. It allows me to stand and move around comfortably, but I look like an idiot when taking my iPod out of my pocket and having to remove the rest of the cord in the process.

Conclusion: The pros are that it's lightweight and cheap. The cons are that it's not the best sound quality and that the main headphone cord isn't long enough to allow your mp3 player to sit comfortably in your pant pocket unless you're like 4ft nothing. Still don't know what they mean by tangle free.

Honestly, they're not the worst headphones, but they're not the best. I'll probably designate them to training/running/working out purposes as the even split will allow me to hide the cord in my shirt and not get tangled up with my arms or the weights when i'm working out.

Rating: 5/10 ... just.

v1.1

Hi all,

For those of you subscribed to my youtube vlogs, i'm sorry for the lack of them at the moment hehehe. January has been quite a hectik month and I haven't been lazy to make another one, just busy.

I've decided to create this blog to post up all the cool shit I come across that I can't fit onto my vlogs!

See, I have fooled all of you into thinking i'm busy when I work all day. For the most part, it's true! However, I work in IT and I love music, dancing design and pretty much anything random! I come across cool shit all the time and I would love nothing more than to share it all with you!

Here in this blog, you will find the best of the best! Links to video's, articles, stories, reviews, pictures, forums, whatever. Funny, entertaining, informative, weird, captivating, random ... if it even peaks my interest, it'll probably be here!

Anyway, enough with the talking. I'll be sure to update this more often than I do my vlogs (I will still do videos, it's just a lot harder to film and put together than I thought! lol)

Also, anyone looking for more emo rant style blogging, be sure to check out my personal blog (muffinsperspective: as I see it...)

Take it easy and enjoy!
